4 and 3 and 2 and 1-1, the Latino and proud ladies are back! Yaas.
Broad City is one of my favourite shows on air right now, and I’m happy to say that the third season is back on our screens and it’s just as good as ever – if not better.
For anyone who’s not seen or heard of the show before then here’s your quick introduction. The show follows two Jewish gal-pals Ilana and Abbi, played by Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, as they go about their mid-twenties living in New York City.
The show is very self-aware and is seriously funny – often mixing up serious comments wrapped up in a dirty joke. The show also stars Hannibal Buress and regularly features many celebrity cameos. My favourite cameo comes courtesy of Amy Sedaris, who stars as a crazy realtor trying to find the girls an apartment.
Abbi is the more concious and sensible of the two. She is trying to be an illustrator but in the mean time is earning her dollar by working in a gym, which obviously comes with it’s own moments of hilarity. Meanwhile, Ilana is more of a care-free spirit who is always, without fail, late for work and more concerned about getting high.
The show originally started out as a youtube show, which are all available for your viewing pleasure. Some of the ideas in the original show made it into the Comedy Central series. Seriously, if you’re not watching this then you need to.
It’s also executive produced by Amy Poehler, what better reason to watch is there?
The season three opener included a massive adventure around New York City to find a new outfit and a toilet break, a lost key, a metal-chained belt and an art show. What other show could possibly include all these elements in the one episode?
